How can you use AI on any page open in your browser?

ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini browser extensions: ask about the page in front of you without copying and pasting.

AI beside the page in front of you

You are reading a long article, watching an hour-long YouTube video, or comparing three products in three tabs. Normally, you would copy the text, go to ChatGPT, and paste it. Extensions remove that step: AI opens beside the page and reads its contents, and you ask it directly.

Available extensions

ExtensionWhat it does
ChatGPT for ChromeA sidebar chat that reads the tab you have open. You can ask it about an open YouTube video.
Claude in ChromeReads the page and can also navigate, click, and fill in fields for you with your permission.
Gemini in ChromeBuilt into Chrome itself: the Ask Gemini button opens a sidebar that answers questions about this tab and other open tabs. Gemini Live lets you talk about the page using your voice.

Install the ChatGPT or Claude extension from the Chrome Web Store and sign in to your account. Gemini is available in Chrome without installing anything: click Ask Gemini at the top and type your question, or click Live and speak.

What you can use them for

  • A long article: “Summarize this article in 5 points and tell me which part is relevant to my work.”
  • A YouTube video: “How does this video show you how to do this? Write the steps in order.”
  • A comparison: Open three products in three tabs and ask, “Compare their prices and features in a table.”
  • Replying to a message: With your email open, “Write a short, polite reply to this message.”
  • Understanding a difficult page: For terms of service or regulations, “What are the 3 most important things I need to know here?”

When it acts for you on the page

Claude in Chrome and features such as automated browsing let it take steps itself: search, fill out a form, and click buttons. Start with something simple, such as “Find the application dates on this website and write them down for me,” and watch it as it works.

Summarize a video instead of watching it all

Install one extension, open a long tutorial video on YouTube, and ask about its steps. Then watch one section yourself and compare.
