Start with a task from your work
If you open Claude and write “Make me a guide,” it will produce something organized but generic. Claude makes a difference when you give it your actual work: your notes, who will read it, and the format you like.
We will use an example: instructions you explain yourself every day to patients after an appointment, clients before a service, or new employees on their first day. You want an organized one-page guide, then an interactive version that opens on a phone.

Chat or Cowork?
You will find two modes: Chat and Cowork.
Chat is for writing, review, and discussion, with the result appearing beside the conversation as a document or tool you can open and edit.
Cowork is for handing over a task involving steps, files, and apps: it reads files from your computer or Drive, prepares the work, and delivers finished files. You follow its steps and can stop or redirect it at any time.
Our example works in Chat. If you later want guides for all your services from a folder on your computer, that is work for Cowork.
Give it what it needs to understand your work
Upload your notes and, if you have an old guide you like, upload it as a visual reference. Explain who will read it: their background and what confuses them.
State each file's role: “The notes are the source, and the old guide is only for the format.”
Copy the prompt as it is, or tailor it with your details first.

Make the result something you can use
When Claude prepares a document or tool, it opens beside the conversation. This is an Artifact: you can read, edit, download, or share it with a link.
After approving the guide, ask for an interactive version to test before sending.
This is a ready-to-use example. Copy it as is, or adapt the text to your work.

Open it on your phone and try every button. If something is wrong, tell it exactly where.
If you will work with it regularly
- Projects: A project for each job or client, containing your files and instructions. Every conversation in the project starts with your work context.
- Skills: Save a process that worked, such as how you write guides, and return to it in any conversation. Details are in the projects and skills guide.
- Connectors: Connect Claude to Gmail, Drive, or your calendar to get information from where it lives. See the guide to connecting your apps.
For a larger tool or website involving files and code, there is Claude Code. Start with the guide to building websites and apps first.
