How do you benefit from ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude?

Learn what these tools can help with and how to use them for explanations, writing, files, and building a simple website or app.

Start with your need: what do you want help with?

If your first use of ChatGPT or Gemini was asking a question and getting an answer, it is natural to think that is all it offers. But take an example from your work: a lecture you want to understand, data to present, or a website idea you do not know how to start. In each case, the assistant can help with a different part, and you can leave the conversation with something you can actually use.

You do not need to memorize twenty tool names. Start with what you want to do and see how far your current tool can help. Let it suggest ideas while you write, or give it the content and an example you like and ask for a complete version to review. What matters is your understanding of the task, the information you provide, and testing the result.

What do ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude do?

A “language model” is a system that works with language: understanding your prompt, connecting information, and writing or reviewing. ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude are services you use through conversation, which may also contain tools for files, images, building, and research.

So do not judge all a tool's capabilities from a “Write a post” trial. Look at your task, then choose the most suitable space inside the tool. Start with one available service instead of opening every website at once.

You can get an image, file, website, or app

Take a lesson you prepared to teach. You can ask for a suggested explanation sequence, questions, or an infographic from the content. For an interactive app, start with a quiz or small game. For something people can return to, ask for an HTML booklet that opens as a website or a PDF suited to reading and printing.

At work, the same idea applies to a report or data: a written summary for a colleague, a meeting presentation, or a dashboard with numbers and filters. Choose the format based on what people need to understand or use.

The right format for the task

A book suits an explanation you return to, a presentation suits speaking to an audience, a game suits practice with answers and feedback, and a dashboard suits changing figures and questions. You do not need every format for the same thing.

Building websites and lightweight tools is available through spaces such as ChatGPT Sites, Gemini Canvas, and Claude Artifacts. Each has sharing methods and limits, so test the function and link before saying the version is ready for people.

Define your part and the part it will help with

If you are still learning content writing, have it explain, compare two openings, and say when each works. If you know your work, provide the audience, angle, sources, and style samples, and ask it to do the time-consuming part: research, organizing ideas, or a first draft.

If the task is clear and inputs are ready, ask for more extensive execution: a presentation file, portfolio page, or message summary linked to its sources. Then review the output and run what needs to work. The better you understand the task, the more precise your direction and feedback become.

When you need more than a conversation

When you start using it for real work, you will encounter a few features that complement conversation. Each has its own guide:

  • Connecting your apps: Get information from Gmail or Drive instead of uploading it. Connection guide.
  • Executing a task: Work in ChatGPT, Task in Gemini, and Cowork in Claude. Execution guide.
  • Scheduling: A task that runs automatically at a set time. Scheduling guide.

Save the process that worked

If you explain the same style or work rules every time, save them once in a Project or skill and return to them whenever you need. The difference and how to make them are in the projects and skills guide.

Try it in your work

Start with a small task of your own

Tell the tool what you have and the result you want, and ask it to clarify missing details. Try the result and refine it with specific feedback.
